Chapter 6
Da Hee stepped out of the café and saw a man standing in front of it.
Dressed in a flawless suit, he wore a charming smile.
Yesterday afternoon, Da Hee had casually mentioned to Woo Hyun that a man she had dated for a long time was marrying a colleague, and she had been invited to the wedding.
Respecting their earnest wish for her to attend, she decided to go and asked him to wear a suit.
'Is that why you're looking for a man who will only shine for one day?'
Woo Hyun had asked.
Da Hee lightly nodded at Woo Hyun's words.
"Is this enough?"
Woo Hyun asked, slightly spreading his arms.
"Yes, it's perfect."
Da Hee replied.
Woo Hyun's lips relaxed into a soft smile. They say handsome men sometimes don't look good when they smile, but Woo Hyun wasn't like that.
Smiling back at Woo Hyun, Da Hee opened her clutch, checked her phone, keys, and other items, and walked ahead.
"The wedding hall is a bit far from here. It'll be uncomfortable to take public transport in a suit, so let's take a taxi. The taxi stand is down this street..."
"Ms. Da Hee."
"Yes?"
"Isn't this better than a taxi?"
He said, standing next to a black Ferrari.
"Did you prepare this?"
Da Hee asked.
Woo Hyun lightly shrugged at Da Hee's question. Da Hee, with a look of disbelief, alternated her gaze between the Ferrari and Woo Hyun and said.
"I'll buy you something delicious today."
Woo Hyun chuckled as he opened the passenger door at Da Hee's words.
"Just get in first."
Guided by Woo Hyun, Da Hee got into the passenger seat and looked around the car. It was only when she saw personal items like tissues and a cleaner inside the Ferrari that she realized it was Woo Hyun's private car.
He must be doing well for someone so young.
Considering his profession as a financial advisor, it wasn't surprising.
Woo Hyun settled into the driver's seat and started the engine. The car smoothly glided onto the road.
Da Hee stared straight ahead, unmoving. Even though being alone in a closed car with a strange man might be awkward, she didn't seem bothered. Instead, she checked the time and simply murmured to herself.
'We'll arrive earlier than planned.'
"What are you going to buy me today?"
Woo Hyun, tired of waiting for Da Hee to ask something, spoke first. This was the first time Da Hee looked at Woo Hyun since getting in the car.
"What do you want? How about a delicious dinner?"
"Weren't we going to have lunch and dinner at the wedding hall?"
"I don't dare to eat anything there, not knowing what those people might have done to the food. And I don't plan on giving a congratulatory gift either."
"You're not giving one?"
"My parents always told me I'd be punished if I spent precious money on foolish things."
Woo Hyun's lips curved at Da Hee's blunt answer. She never beat around the bush. Yet, she didn't show any hostility toward the couple getting married. It was as if she was simply relaying someone else's story, displaying only a neutral, 'that's what they say', kind of emotion. Woo Hyun usually found it incredibly difficult to tune into the subtle emotional frequencies women often emitted.
Da Hee didn't seem to have any of that, and he was particularly pleased with his own discernment in recognizing that about her today.
"Is there anything you want? Like something to eat or..."
Da Hee asked.
"I brought this car for my own convenience, so you don't need to worry about it."
"You spent your time because of me. You can speak comfortably."
"Alright then."
Woo Hyun began to speak. Da Hee turned her head to look at him. His lips seemed to glow with a particularly alluring color today. Regardless of her feelings for Woo Hyun, Da Hee was thinking that kissing those lips would feel incredibly good. At that time, those lips moved.
"Give me five free café vouchers."
"Is that all?"
"It means we have to meet at least five times. Is that still 'just'?"
Woo Hyun asked with a smile. He smiled more often than she expected, which kept the atmosphere from becoming too stiff.
"It's not 'just' then. But, it's not difficult. Five times. Please come to the café tomorrow. I'll issue them for you."
"I'll look forward to it."
Da Hee lightly shrugged her shoulders in response to Woo Hyun's words.
"Don't mention it."
